(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Given ongoing novel H1N1 activity to date, CDC anticipates that there will be more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths associated with this pandemic in the United States over the summer and into the fall and winter. The novel H1N1 virus, in conjunction with regular seasonal influenza viruses, poses the potential to cause significant illness with associated hospitalizations and deaths during the U.S. influenza season.

Elementary, and nursery schools can be a breeding ground for infection. Schools are places where thousands of children of all ages – children with running noses, colds, and poor hygiene – are crowded together in small spaces where all kinds of things are shared. It’s imperative to stop the spread of germs and prevent unnecessary infection in an effort to protect the health of students, teachers, staff and the community.

Another reason for public concern is that school aged children has proven to be at a higher risk of contracting and transmitting the novel H1N1 virus than other segments of the population.

Naturally, the most critical preventative measure from contracting and transmitting the flu is by washing your hands at least 4 times per day. In fact, the CDC states that students who wash their hands at least four times a day have 24 percent fewer absences due to respiratory illness like the cold and flu and half the absences due to stomach flu. Secondly, the use of our new patented SpectraSan 24 is probably the most significant weapon used for prevention of H1N1.

SpectraSan 24 is unique because it kills germs 20-times faster than conventional products, is approved by the EPA to be used in childcare environments, and it is the only disinfectant in the world that can provide 24-hours of protection. Traditional disinfectant must remain wet for 10-minutes to provide 99.9% kill and once they dry – they stop working. SpectraSan 24, on the other hand, continues to kill germs for 24 hours.
