How to Ditch the Pillow and Get In the Mood Again
|
(HealthNewsDigest.com) – JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A recent study released by Westin Hotels and Resorts reveals that people all over the world would rather get a good night’s sleep than have sex. Of nearly 12,500 travelers surveyed in 12 different countries, the study found more than half of the respondents would rather sleep than engage in sexual activity.
Relationship experts, or “sexperts,” aren’t surprised by these results. “Sexpert” Genie James, M.M.Sc., nationally recognized author and Executive Director of the Natural Hormone Institute, says choosing sleep over sex is common in adult men and women because of age-related hormone imbalances.
“People tend to blame their dwindling sex drive on age, stress, weight gain, and/or fatigue, thus settling for the ho-hum of hand holding and good-night pecks on the cheek, while every once in a while harkening back to their sexually robust 20’s, wondering what happened,” says James. “Science tells us there is actually a medical condition at the root of this problem that is sabotaging their sex life at a cellular level. Declining levels of the body’s three sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone, are the primary reasons why people’s sex drive has gone down the tubes and sleep has become the bedroom’s activity of choice.”
James sites several natural treatments that have existed for many years and have been proven effective in balancing hormone levels as well as Bioidentical hormone replacement therapies (BHRT). Natural treatments help aging men and women achieve not only better sleep, but also a renewed stronger desire for a healthy sex-life. BHRT has been clinically proven to be a safe and effective alternative for treating symptoms of hormone imbalance. Going beyond the symptoms, BHRT corrects hormone deficiencies and bio-chemically resolves the problem at the cellular level.
“A renewed sex life can become a secret fountain of youth, giving people more energy, helping them lose weight and improving their overall health and well-being, “ writes James in her new book, In the Mood Again (Simon & Shuster 2010).
In her upcoming book, James also provides other simple solutions to get men and women to wake up and get in the mood once again.
“By age 30, men and women can begin to experience life threatening hormone imbalances. With inadequate sleep, the hormones which control appetite and energy, gherlin and leptin, become unbalanced. This lack of appetite and energy is a major cause of sleep disorders and insomnia,” says James. “Insomnia can cause an increase in fatigue and anxiety, which can limit the amount of sleep men and women are getting, contributing to the vicious cycle. The body needs help to get back to a balance of quality sleep and quality sex. The study is confirmation of what our research and patient experience has been telling us for years.”
