What happens to a Rockette’s body after she retires and is no longer in the spotlight?
|
(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Mary Six can tell you. Before joining the famous dance troupe, Mary, like most dancer, endured years of intense training in ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance. During her 13 years as a Rockette, she performed six shows a day during the Christmas season (November – January). That came out to roughly 32,000 precision kicks in high heels. It’s no wonder today she has oseoarhtritis of the knee.
Not ready to hang up her dance shoes quite yet, Mary went the traditional treatment route – over-the-counter (OTC) treatments and NSAIDs/COX-2s – hoping to avoid the more extreme total knee placement. Eventually, with the help of viscosupplements, Mary was able to get back on her feet and resume dancing.
On September 24, helped The American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation launch “Get A Kick Out Of Life,” a public education campaign to urge those with squeaky, creaky joints to take control of their life and seek treatment options so they too can resume doing the things they love.
