(HealthNewsDigest.com) New York, NY The Pelleve Wrinkle Reduction System is a non-surgical treatment that tightens skin and reduces wrinkles. FDA approved in May 2009, Pelleve is a quick, painless procedure that works by slowly and carefully heating the deep layers of the skin. The heat causes the collagen in the skin to shrink and tightens it . It also stimulates new collagen production, which improves skin quality and appearance. For the first time in years, I have found a non surgical treatment that produces real results.
When I first heard about Pelleve, my “skepticism antennae” went up. My reputation is built upon delivering consistent results, so I am very careful about introducing new products to my patients. As a specialist in faces, I have been very cautious over the years about new technologies that are touted as non-surgical “facelifts” without any down time. Yet sagging skin and jowls are such a common problem; and I have a lot of patients who want to address this problem without surgery or injectables. After much research and application, I can confidently say Pelleve offers a comfortable and safe experience with results patients can feel good about. Because there really is little, if any, downtime, Pelleve is a perfect solution for people who’d like a fresher look but are not ready for surgery. For instance, one of my patients, a trial lawyer in his late 60s, is not ready to commit to the one week downtime of a facelift. He says he can always deal with his sagging jowls later. . He comes in for a Pelleve treatment and then he is off to the races feeling and looking younger and rejuvenated.
Pelleve is a great treatment for people who have fine lines and need a small amount of skin tightening. To administer a Pelleve treatment, I use a unique handpiece that allows me to precisely target each patient’s problem areas. Most patients want to target the wrinkles formed at the corners of their eyelids, also known as “Crow’s Feet.” I use Pelleve to soften wrinkles on the face, neck, and hands Pelleve is a very safe anti-aging treatment. Unlike lasers, which cannot be used on darker skin, Pelleve works on all skin types. It is non-ablative, meaning it doesn’t take off the skin, making it a safe, effective choice for darker skin. Plus it is a beauty boost that lasts. After the first treatment, skin will look firmer and tighter immediately, and patients can expect to see their results improve over the following weeks and continue up to six months.
Another advantage of Pelleve is that it is easy for most people to experience. Completely non-invasive (no knife, no needles, no redness), the Pelleve treatment feels like a warm facial massage. Pelleve works by producing radiofrequency (“RF”) waves through a generator and delivered via a “wand.” Heat travels through the skin, targeting the “dermis” (the collagen rich layer underneath the surface of the skin). As we get older, we lose the thickness of our skin in this critical dermis area. As skin gets thinner, it becomes loose and wrinkled. Pelleve applies heat in a very steady, slow and comfortable way. My patients can go right back to work after leaving my office. Results are rarely accompanied by side effects or other complications. The entire Pelleve treatment takes between 45 minutes and an hour.
Pelleve is most appropriate for those with mild to moderate wrinkling. The best candidates are healthy women and men, usually in their late 40s to early 50s. Howvever, even people in their late 20s, who have damaged their skin by smoking or with too much sun, seek out Pelleve. For a younger person with only minimal skin damage, just one to two Pelleve treatments can be effective. For individuals with more pronounced changes, usually a series of three to four treatments spaced four weeks apart is necessary to achieve maximal effectiveness.. Results of neck and hand treatments can last one to two years. Depending on how healthy the lifestyle, results can last for several years.
One of the most effective uses for Pelleve is when it is used in combination with other procedures. Facelift and eyelift patients, especially those with darker skin who are not a candidate for laser therapy, have achieved superior results with a strengthened foundation and tightened skin. The rejuvenation is complete and looks completely natural. Pelleve is one of the procedures I use most often to enhance and increase the duration of surgical rejuvenation procedures.
Pelleve is perfect for women and men who wish to look “less tired.” The device will not replace what a surgical facelift or eyelift will do, but we have been very happy with it for fine lines and wrinkles. In my offices, we are using it on a daily basis:
to lift eyebrows
soften the bags under the eyes
reduce the hooding of the upper eyelids
diminish “crows fee”
raise sagging cheeks or jowls
smooth out wrinkles around the mouths and neck, and the creases on the back of the hands.
