(HealthNewsDigest.com) – New York, NY – For the first time, a free, public symposium will be presented by Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) to showcase some of the nation’s leading scientists in a discussion of the latest and most promising developments in ovarian cancer research treatment and detection. Ovarian cancer survivors will join the panel to provide personal accounts of their experience with the disease.
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s scientific research symposium will take place on November 13, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Florence Gould Hall, 55 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues in Manhattan. “This important symposium will bring the public the most recent developments in ovarian cancer research, while raising awareness and providing important information on services, clinical trials and other resources,” said Dr. Peter Dottino, an Associate Clinical Professor Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and an OCRF Board member. Dr. Dottino will moderate the symposium, and additional speakers include Carmel Cohen, MD, also of Mt. The mission of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is to provide funding to scientists in an effort to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer. In support of this, OCRF also helps patients and their families understand the disease and its treatment, and supports outreach programs to raise public awareness.
