(HealthNewsDigest.com) – DENVER, Aug. 3, 2011 — For many kids summer is a time to play sports, go to camp and spend time with their pets. As kids prepare to head back to school in a few weeks, time with their pets may be cut short because of homework or extracurricular activities. But what if some of their assignments or activities were geared toward learning how to keep their pets happy and healthy?

Morris Animal Foundation, a world leader in helping animals enjoy longer, healthier lives, has enhanced its www.mafkids.org site with new pet health information. This online resource for teachers around the country helps educate children about the importance of animal health. The website is geared to second to sixth graders–which is fitting because the average age at which a person decides to become a veterinarian is 9

The www.mafkids.org site features popular animals–dogs, cats, horses, llamas and lots of wildlife species–and the scientists who are working to keep them healthy. Students can take quizzes, see photos of scientists in action, watch videos and download wallpaper for their computers.
