In recognition of National Memory Screening Day, MemTrax offers a simple way for consumers to monitor memory and brain health
(HealthNewsDigest.com) – MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (November 15, 2011) — HAPPYneuron (www.happyneuron.com), a developer of online cognitive cross-training solutions, announces MemTrax (www.MemTrax.com), a new memory-screening test for consumers. With a short three-minute test, MemTrax offers a user-friendly screening for the early detection of memory issues, available as an online service or iPhone™/ iPad™ app. As the U.S. celebrates National Memory Screening Day today, MemTrax aids in the discovery of memory impairments at an early, more treatable stage.
MemTrax was developed after 10 years of research by Dr. Wes Ashford, Chair of the Memory Screening Advisory Board of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and Clinical Editor of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. The screening test has been administered to thousands of individuals and provides a reliable warning of memory problems. MemTrax has been shown to be sensitive to the clinical memory problem that affects patients with Alzheimer’s disease, therefore providing early indications of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Through Dr. Ashford’s research, The MemTrax memory test was found to reliably indicate the presence of significant memory impairment, and poor performance (below 75 percent) seen in 100 percent of dementia patients taking the test.
“Memory is something that every person cherishes, but most people neglect the mind as a part of theiroverall health screenings,” said Dr. Ashford. “It’s our hope that making a memory screening so readily accessible will encourage more people to take responsibility of their own brain health.”
MemTrax is now available as both an online service and mobile application. The online screening provides one free test for first-time visitors and then is less than one dollar per month, with a new test offered each month. Users are sent a reminder when each new test is available and an assessment is provided after each test to showpotential decline in certain cognitive areas.
The free app, available on the iTunes store for iPhone and iPad, provides one free screening and then charges $.99 for each additional monthly test with assessment. The app is able to track up to five different users’ information, so the entire family can utilize it to track their cognitive health.
Launched today to recognize the Alzheimer Foundation of America’s National Memory Screening Day (www.nationalmemoryscreening.org), MemTrax is available for a free test or full subscription at www.MemTrax.com or through the iTunes store.
