New guide leads alcoholics to reclaim healthy life
|
(HealthNewsDigest.com) – SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – In the U.S., 17.6 million people – about 1 in every 12 adults –abuse alcohol or are alcohol dependent, reports the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
But for anyone within that statistic, it’s never too late to start a new life.
In her new guide Sober Identity: Tools for Reprogramming the Addicted Mind, recovered alcoholic and recovery coach Lisa Neumann shares her personal journey to sobriety in an effort to guide others to reprogram their way of thinking – from setting themselves up for failure to starting over anew.
Serving as an alternative or supplement to traditional 12-Step addiction recovery programs, Sober Identity gives current and recovering addicts the tools to achieve sobriety, providing the framework to move forward and live a happy, healthy life free from addiction.
Not just for current or recovering addicts, Sober Identity also gives family and loved ones of addicts a clearer understanding of what the addict is going through as he or she works toward sobriety.
“Sobriety is a tough journey, and addicts striving toward recovery need support,” Neumann says. “I wanted to share my path and help others find their path. This book is my way of giving back.”
Neumann adds dialogues from her own path to sobriety, demonstrating that not only does she stand behind the ideas presented in the text, but they are proven to be successful.
Sober Identity is divided into six parts designed to teach readers to relate to the “self” in order to achieve long-term sobriety. From how to put together a sobriety plan to the competencies needed in order to successfully overcome addiction, Neumann give readers tried-and-true examples as they strive to become sober.
“Sober Identity is about focusing on who you want to become in this life,” Neumann says. “It’s about living and stepping into your grandness.”
