There are many different injectable products on the market which serve different purposes and consist of different materials. The injectable treatment is a relatively brief procedure that involves the use of a small syringe to inject the solution. Prior to administering the solution, the physician may apply a topical anesthesia to the skin to numb it for the needle. The needle will be gently placed into the skin and the solution will be injected into the targeted areas of the face. The entire process will normally take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to complete depending on the nature of the procedure. After the solution has been injected, the physician may provide a small bag of ice to alleviate any pain or swelling on the face.
Unlike more invasive procedures that require lengthy recovery periods, the patient will usually be able to make a full recovery on the same day and proceed with other daily activities with little to no discomfort. The results of the procedure are often visible within a few hours of the procedure. While injectables are very effective at what they do, they are not a permanent solution as their effects typically last between six months to a year or two depending on the solution that was used, where it was injected, and the how the patient responds to the treatment in general. In many cases, the physician will recommend follow-up visits to touch up the targeted areas as needed.
