(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Arlington Height, Ill. (April 26, 2017) – Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is setting up a drive thru to distribute free colon cancer screening kits to help with early detection of colorectal cancer from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, at the NCH Day Surgery Center, 675 W. Kirchoff Road, on the NCH campus.
Sponsored by NCH Cancer Services, At Home Colorectal Cancer Screening Kit To-Go is open to anyone between the ages of 50 and 75, who has not had a colonoscopy in the past 10 years and not taken an at-home test in the past year. Participants should not have a personal history of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, a family history of colorectal cancer or adenomas.
The colorectal screening will be completed in the privacy of participants’ homes and mailed back or dropped off at the NCH Day Surgery Center. An NCH staff member will contact individuals with their results.
NCH Gastroenterologist Michael Hersh, M.D., says, “One of the things that inspire me about what I do is being able to catch colon cancer early and sometimes even prevent colon cancer altogether.”
No registration required. Quantities are limited. First come, first served. Limit one kit per person.
The screening kits are not intended as a substitute for a colonoscopy.
