High Impact Results with Low Downtime Procedures

(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Minimally invasive non-surgical procedures have taken center stage in most aesthetic plastic surgery practices, largely driven by consumer demand as well as technological innovations that are offering more dramatic results in fewer treatment sessions and at a more affordable price tag than surgical intervention.

The current range of FDA cleared injectable products for facial enhancement, volumizing and rejuvenation and the available neurotoxin agents offer physicians a myriad of safe and effective options for non-surgical treatments, called “liquid facelifts” in the vernacular. Due to the challenging and arduous regulatory process in the U.S. market, we are lagging way behind Europe, Latin America and Asia in terms of new product introductions. To some extent, this has encouraged an emerging focus on instrumentation and advanced and combined techniques for using injectable products, including injection-assisted devices, soft needles and novel cannulas for optimizing treatment outcomes with dermal fillers (Juvederm®, Restylane®, Belotero®), platelet rich plasma (Selphyl®), and autologous fat.
Another segment that is demonstrating steady growth is laser devices and energy based systems that offer solutions for skin tightening and lifting (Ulthera®, Pelleve®, Evolastin®), fractional resurfacing, acne therapy (Isolaz®, Acleara®), destruction of fat deposits (Zeltiq®, Liposonix®, TruSculpt®), as well as targeting photoaging, vascular, pigmentary conditions, and hyperhidrosis (Miradry®). There have been several consolidations and acquisitions among the prominent medical device players over the past few years (such as Syneron-Candela, Cutera-Iridex, Cynosure-Hoya Conbio), and more are expected as the market continues to introduce inventive business models and versatile platforms that are fueling the expansion of cosmetic medicine globally.
These and other pivotal topics of interest will be featured at the third Aesthetic Plastic Surgery / Anti Aging Medicine: The Next Generation Symposium (http://www.nextgenmtg.org) to be held on July 20-22, 2012 at the Conrad New York in lower Manhattan. This interactive, multidisciplinary conference will feature a world-class faculty from Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery, Dermatology and Oculoplastic Surgery who will share ground-breaking research and state-of-the-art developments in aesthetic surgery and cosmetic medicine. According to Anthony P. Sclafani, M.D., F.A.C.S., Director of Facial Plastic Surgery, The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary and Professor (http://www.nyface.com), “The Next Generation Symposium represents the best of continuing medical education- state-of-the-art information presented in a manner that encourages “outside the box” thinking, fosters inter-specialty collaboration and discusses laboratory research in ways that have immediate, practical impact on patient care.”
As Course Chairman Plastic Surgeon Z. Paul Lorenc, M.D., F.A.C.S (http://www.lorenc.com) says, “The aesthetic market is constantly evolving and physicians need to keep up with new advancements and global trends to stay current. This symposium will present the best of what is available in the U.S. and Europe, with an eye towards the future of cosmetic and regenerative therapies. We look forward to an informative and thought-provoking three day event this summer in downtown Manhattan.”
