Cheryl Wills is an award-winning reporter and one of the most tenured on-air personalities at NY1.
As NY1's health reporter, Cheryl reported stories from every major hospital in New York City and covered cutting-edge issues from the first robotic surgeries to the controversy surrounding stem cell research.
Cheryl is a charter member of the NY1 News team. She came on board before the station went on air in 1992 and helped advance the station's production as a producer. Shortly thereafter she became NY1's medical reporter, and was named NY1's weekend evening anchor in 2002.
A graduate of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Cheryl prides herself on her accuracy and fairness. She has been honored numerous times for outstanding medical reporting, and is a frequent speaker at colleges and high schools around the five boroughs. She is the recipient of a CUNY Medical School achievement award, and has won awards for outstanding reporting from various medical societies and community and professional groups.
Cheryl was born in a city hospital in Elmhurst, Queens, and grew up in the Rockaways. Prior to NY1, Cheryl worked at WNYW-Fox News in New York as a production assistant.
