(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Jeff Alt takes you along every step of his 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail adventure filled with humorous, frightening, and inspirational stories including: bears, bugs, blisters, skunk bedmates, mice, and hilarious food cravings. Alt tells how he saved a dog from drowning, was chased by a bull, and how he came across a moose; all for a noble cause.

As Alt walked on through freezing temperatures, driving rain, and sunny skies; as he met walking buddies and obnoxious individuals; as he endured sprained ankles, and swarms of insects; as he focused more on food than his future wife; as he watched others who had trudged hundreds of miles decide to quit, Alt was constantly buoyed by the knowledge that his walk was dedicated to his brother who has cerebral palsy. Alt lived in the woods for 147 days, inspiring an annual fundraiser which has raised over $160,000 for the Sunshine Home, the facility where his brother lives.

A Walk For Sunshine is an award-winning, entertaining, armchair adventure full of examples of perseverance, survival, goal-setting success, and overcoming obstacles. Alt’s story sheds light on the pursuit of a simpler life. A Walk For Sunshine will fill readers with inspiration to go after their dreams. Includes a chapter with instructions on how to conduct a charity expedition. We hope you will enjoy your hike!

New to this edition: An epilogue chapter focusing on life lessons Alt learned from his time on the trail and how he has applied them to his life in the 10 years since his adventure. Alt stresses the importance of including the whole family—especially children—in outdoor activities to foster an appreciation of nature, to nurture the importance of good stewardship of the earth, and to get everyone up and moving for good health.

About the Author: Jeff Alt’s adventures have been featured in media nationwide including: ESPN’s Inside America’s National Parks, Hallmark Channel, CNN-Radio, USA Radio Network, the AP, the Chicago Sun Times, and many more. Alt is a talented speaker, teacher, and the award-winning author of A Walk For Sunshine and A Hike For Mike. Alt is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA). He holds a Master’s degree from Miami University in Ohio and a degree from the University of Toledo. He continues to host the annual Walk-With-Sunshine inspired by his Appalachian Trail journey.
