Enticing Children to Eat the Healthy Lunch You Pack

(HealthNewsDigest.com) – It’s one thing to pack a nutritious lunch for your children. It’s another whole issue to persuade your kids to eat it.

Don’t get stuck in the same old rut this school year. Give your children lunches that they’ll look forward to eating that will also be healthy and yummy.

For instance, one of the best ways to make sure your kids like their lunches is to let them be in on the planning and packing process. Take them shopping with you. With your guidance, let them help choose the foods to include. This may take a little longer in the beginning, but they’ll like being part of the decision-making process and be more apt to eat their food.

Then, instead of automatically packing their lunches yourself, ask them what they want. You’d be surprised that how letting children tell you they’d rather have a turkey sandwich on whole wheat, instead of ham on multi-grain will give them more of an incentive to eat their own lunches. Why throw an apple into your kids’ lunch boxes when they’d rather have carrots. If they like dressing, pack a small container of low fat ranch.

If they are tired of the same old foods, how about a pasta salad with fun-shaped, different color pasta or a cheese wrap, instead of a cheese sandwich? Backed potato chips are also better than fried.

Put the fun back into food!
