While most of the exercises are classic mat Pilates, some are variations on those normally done on the Reformer. Kara Wily is the founder of Kara Wily Pilates in Los Angeles, CA. Well known throughout Hollywood, her celebrity clients have included Portia de Rossi, Michael Peña, Penelope Cruz, et al. Wily was the recipient of an Alvin Ailey dance scholarship and danced with the Company in 1997. After ACL surgery in 1992, she discovered Pilates. She became certified through the Physical Mind Institute in Texas before moving to New York to study with Romana Kryzanowska. While there she took post-graduate level work for a pre-med track at Columbia University. Later Wiley moved to Austria where she taught anatomy and physiology. Now Wily is settled in Los Angeles with her family and studio.
