(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Richmond (November 16, 2010) — The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (VSCPA) award-winning Financial Fitness Calendar is now available for the 2011 calendar year. This newly redesigned 12-month wall calendar is a free consumer resource as part of the VSCPA’s financial literacy initiative to improve the financial health of Virginians. Called Financial Fitness (www.FinancialFitness.org), the campaign is part of a national effort of the CPA profession to reach out to the community and educate the public — from schoolchildren to retirees — on topics related to money management and fiscal responsibility.

“It’s important for consumers to be reminded of basic money management principles,” said Bradford R. Jones, CPA, chair of the VSCPA Board of Directors. “The VSCPA is honored to provide this free calendar and other valuable resources to help Virginians keep their finances healthy. The CPA profession has a long tradition of helping individuals and businesses realize their financial goals. The VSCPA and its members take this responsibility very seriously, and we’re here to help.”

In addition to serving as a wall calendar, the VSCPA Financial Fitness Calendar is also a financial literacy resource guide. It’s loaded with year-round money management advice on topics like budget planning, saving for the future, preventing identity theft and understanding credit as well as important tax and financial dates to remember and information for additional financial assistance. To access more financial resources, consumers can visit www.FinancialFitness.org/calendar.

The calendar also features four Virginia CPAs with diverse careers, along with a money management tip from each expert: Hope Cupit, CPA, of Roanoke, president and CEO at Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, Inc.; Bradford R. Jones, CPA, of Fredericksburg, principal/owner at PBGH, LLP; Andrew T. Martin, CPA, of Chesapeake, vice president/manager at Corbin & Company, PC; and Colette Wilson, CPA, of Alexandria, partner at Cotton & Company, LLP.

Consumers can access the free 2011 Financial Fitness Calendar online and request a complimentary copy at www.FinancialFitness.org.
