(HealthNewsDigest.com) – “Excuse me nurse, good morning, may I ask a question?” The little boy with big blue eyes had such a sweet expression. Perhaps no more than six years old, his little face angelic. He held a great big box that looked so old, much like a relic.
The nurse looked down at the small child, and smiled back at the tot.
“Of course you can, my little man. What is that box you’ve got?”
“I’ve brought these presents for the kings and queens, that will be born.
On Christmas Day, tomorrow.”, his red box was old and torn.
“But little man, the King was born, and died, quite long ago.”
The night when the North Star was big and bright, and all aglo.”
“I know.” the little child replied, “But I just now found out.
“That he’ll return again one day. That’s what I’m here about.”
There might be born, a brand new ‘king’ or ‘queen’, right here, tonight.
So each must have a present. Did you see? The star is bright.”
But when the child opened the box, there were no contents there.
But still he smiled, as he looked up, the nurse sat in a chair.
“But there is nothing in this box. Did you forget them maybe?”
The boy then closed the box, and said, “A gold cross for each baby.
Don’t worry.” said the little boy, “The box will be full soon.
And for their birthday, I will buy, each one a big balloon.”
“May I leave the box right here?, then placed it on the table.
‘Gold Crosses for the Kings and Queens’ was written on a label.
He put the box down as he said, “I’ll see you bright and early.”
His baseball cap revealed his hair was long and very curly.
The worried nurse had lost her faith, her life was filled with strife.
She thought how disappointed he would be, now in his life.
The time to visit ended, and each visitor filed out.
Each one that asked about the box, responded with a pout.
That night was very busy, many babies did arrive.
But many more were coming, after midnight, maybe five.
Although the nurse was busy, she kept a watchful eye.
Each time that anyone walked in, or happened to walk by.
Before too long, the sun was up and Christmas day had come.
The nurse went on her break, and then she made a coffee run.
On her return, there were balloons, floating in the air.
The little boy sat patiently, waiting in a chair.
“Good morning sweetheart.” the nurse spoke, her sadness clear to see.
“Merry Christmas nurse.” the child replied, his face was full of glee.
She’d never seen the place so bright, as on this Christmas Day.
It saddened her to be the one, the truth she would convey.
“How many babies were there born, that came to us from heaven.
The little boy said, and the nurse replied, “Last night, just seven.”
“We better open up the box and give them each their gift.”
And then he reached up to the box, and grabbed the top to lift.
“Please wait.” the nurse tried hard to stall, the innocent small child.
His curly hair shoved in his hat, with ends that stuck out wild.
“No need to worry, like I said, the box would be full soon.”
He lifted up the lid and then the nurse began to swoon.
Inside the box were seven golden crosses shining bright.
One for each new baby, it was an amazing sight.
The nurse’s mouth dropped open, as she could not say a thing.
Seven lovely crosses, each attached onto a string.
“But I don’t understand, nobody here has touched this box.”
The nurse insisted to the boy, with lots of curly locks.
“I told you not to worry, that the presents would be here.”
The nurse stared at the little boy, her eyes started to tear.
The nurse then hung a golden cross, next to each baby’s name.
Her faith renewed, the night, the kings’ and queens’ presents came.
And so the nurse, who’d lost all hope, once more now did believe.
Thanks to a little boy, that she had met, one Christmas Eve.
