(HealthNewsDigest.com) – New York, NY, 2014 – It has been said that “laughter is the best medicine” and entrepreneur Jody Barrett has taken that concept and turned it into quirky hospital wear that is sure to bring a smile to the faces of your loved ones this Holiday Season.  Seriously Funny Gowns offers patients a little humor and brightness to a sometimes sad situation through its decorated range of hospital gowns.

The idea behind Seriously Funny Gowns was developed when Jody visited a close friend in the hospital and they joked about her hospital gown being so depressing. It was there that Jody identified a unique void in the hospital market, and immediately got to work to help change the way people viewed hospitals.  Jody has over 10 years of experience with luxury brands as an Executive Director and has volunteered at numerous New York hospitals and senior facilities including North Shore University Hospital.

Focusing on cheery and humorous designs, Jody has created a line that includes traditional hospital gowns, breast cancer treatment tops and mammography tops. Starting at just $35, the customized gowns are available in two cotton thread counts, which account for patients varying body temperatures when they are sick or in treatment.

About Jody Barrett

An aspiring and creative entrepreneur, Jody Barrett is on a mission to change the conversation with patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

A fine arts graduate, Jody boasts over 10 years serving as an Executive Director supporting luxury brands nationwide. A seasoned volunteer with more than a decade of experience, Jody has leant a helping hand to numerous New York hospitals and senior facilities including North Shore University Hospital. It was here that she devoted her time to creating art projects designed to help distract the children in the pediatric ward.

Channeling her artistic sensibility, Executive Director experience and an unwavering creative entrepreneurial spirit, Jody created Showoff By Design that launched Seriously Funny Gowns in 2013. The line of adorned hospital wear offers personalized, quirky and conversational ensembles for people who need it most, the patients.

The idea for Seriously Funny Gowns was developed when Jody visited a friend in the hospital, and saw the dreary, colorless gowns the patients were outfitted in. It was then Jody made the decision that she would be the one to bring humor and light to these unfortunate situations. Seriously Funny Gowns offers customers a choice between traditional hospital gowns, breast cancer treatment tops and mammography tops. Starting at $35, the customized gowns are created using a variety of designs and are available in two cotton thread counts, taking into consideration peoples varying body temperatures when sick or in treatment.

With plans to offer additional healthcare garments in the future, and a line of childrenswear this fall, Seriously Funny Gowns will bring a much-needed smile to the face of hospital wards around the country.
