(HealthNewsDigest.com) – The National Council on Aging reports that falls are the leading cause of injuries for those 65 years of age and over. In fact, every 14 seconds, an older adult is seen in an emergency department for a fall-related injury-but you can protect yourself.

“People have always assumed falls are inevitable with aging, but we now know many falls are preventable through simple lifestyle changes, such as increased levels of physical activity,” said Robert Flippo, CEO ofMobileHelp, a company that makes mobile Personal Emergency Response Systems (M-PERS). The systems give active seniors expedited emergency help in case of a fall.

He acknowledged knowing how much exercise to add to your day can be a challenge. To help seniors monitor their exercise progress, the company has introduced a new activity-tracking application. The application uses the components of the company’s existing M- PERS solution.

This means customers and caregivers can take advantage of the new health-focused benefits without having to invest in extra technology devices or learn how to use new software.
