Making Room for the Family in Your Vehicle

The chair folds as it rises and the carrier closes, keeping the wheelchair safe atop the vehicle until it reaches its destination. There are different sizes and weights for car-top carriers, depending on the wheelchair and vehicle. A local NMEDA/QAP member dealer will be able to examine the car to determine if it is suitable for a car-top carrier.

For a larger vehicle and larger electric wheelchair, the best option is a hitch-mounted wheelchair carrier. These carriers attach onto the back of the car as a hitch. They conveniently tilt down to load the wheelchair before tilting up to lock it into place.
