(HealthNewsDigest.com) – You can help protect your home from these mosquito-borne viruses. Zika has been declared a Public Health Emergency by the WHO. The CDC reports 426 cases in 44 states, with the active mosquito season just starting. Zika and West Nile will surely cause multiple deaths this year. Infected mosquitoes are most active in warm weather, breeding in standing water.

Action Required

One simple step can reduce your risk of contracting these often-fatal diseases: Eliminate all standing water on your property.

According to the CDC, this is essential. Empty outside pots, barrels, etc., weekly. Since the CDC suggests gutters are the leading source of standing water, you may want to eliminate this threat completely. You can replace traditional gutters with a patented gutter system for handling runoff that eliminates standing water. It’s a set of seven aluminum louvers that turn the roof runoff into gentle rain-sized drops spread in a swath three feet wide away from your home. Called Rainhandler, it requires no cleaning or maintenance and eliminates ground erosion. No standing water in gutters ever again. Get more facts atwww.rainhandlers.com/naps or call 800-942-3004.
