(HealthNewsDigest.com) – LAS VEGAS, June 20, 2017 — National medical flight charity, Miracle Flights, concluded the month of May with 618 coordinated medical flights to hospitals and doctors around the country. These flights enabled children with rare and life-threatening medical conditions to gain access to specialized healthcare.

The impressive flight count consisted of coordinated efforts in 29 states and 8 different countries. Over 50 flights were performed in California, Florida, Oregon and Texas, alone. Patients traveled from as far away as Brazil, Germany and Turkey.

To-date, the charity has performed 109,556 Miracle Flights and traveled over 60 million miles in their impressive 32-year history. Flight support is provided at no cost to the families and a patient may fly as many times as necessary.

“What’s remarkable about Miracle Flights is that we’ll stick with a child for years and years. Some kids we began flying as babies, and now they’re in their late teens,” said CEO Mark E. Brown.

“One patient, Jessica, has flown with us over 30 times for Arthrogryposes treatment. She’s a perfect example of how continued care is instrumental in ensuring a healthier future. It’s been amazing watching her progress over the past decade,” he explained.

Brown also encourages anyone interested in helping Miracle Flights to refer a family or donate at miracleflights.org.
