(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Not all of us have time to get to the doctor when we need to, even if it’s something that we’ve been putting off that really needs to get checked. You may even be avoiding the doctor because it gives you anxiety, and you feel uncomfortable every time you go.

If you’re worried about having to make a doctor’s appointment – don’t be. There are plenty of ways to check up on your health from the comfort of your own home. Let’s take a look at five vital health check-ups you can do at home.

1. The Brain Test

Testing your brain for cognitive function is easier than you may think. As we get older, we become more susceptible to degenerative brain disease, among other things. Regularly checking in with your brain and making sure that everything is functioning as normal is essential to identify any issues early.

Draw a clock on a piece of paper with a pencil, then ask someone to tell you the time – both hours and minutes. Draw the hands on the clock to indicate the current time. This works out many different processes in your brain, from visual perception to spatial awareness and memory, all things that are vital for a healthy functioning brain.

2. The Spine Test

If you’ve been suffering from a bit of back pain lately and you’re not too sure what’s going on, there is a simple, yet practical way to test for issues before you head off to the doctor.

For the spine test, you’ll need two scales. Place on foot on one scale, and one foot on the other. Your weight should be distributed equally or close to it. If it’s way off, then your spine could be off-center, and it could be time to visit the doctor.

3. At-Home Lab Test

If you’re single, having fun, and leading a busy life, you may not have time to go for the necessary check-ups at the doctor. You also may be hesitant to go because you don’t feel comfortable enough sharing this part of your life with a healthcare professional.

If you’re hesitant to book in with the doctor, try taking an at-home STD lab test. It’s discreet, convenient, and you can get your results back in a couple of days.

4. The Bone Test

Concerned that you’ve got brittle bones, or you knocked your arm a couple of weeks ago, and it still hasn’t come, right? To check your bones for signs of weakness or other issues, you’ve first got to look at your nails.

Your nails can reveal a lot about your health in general, particularly your bones. If you notice that they are rippled, or have white spots in places, then you could be iron or vitamin B deficient, which is linked to osteoporosis.

5. The Hearing Test

Testing your ears for signs of problems involves eavesdropping. Next time you’re in a group or a crowd, try hearing a conversation that is taking place at least 16 feet away. If you can’t hear it, then you may need to make a doctor’s appointment.

If you’re somewhere that’s too crowded, however, this test won’t work.

Getting around to visiting the doctor for a check-up is easier said than done. If you don’t have time for the doctor or are anxious about the visit, try these easy at-home health tests to make sure that your general wellbeing is as it should be.
