Rare raptor spotted in Southern California

Posted on January 5, 2023

A snowy owl that looks like it should be flying about the wintry wizarding world of Harry Potter has been spotted among the palm trees of beachy Southern California.

The Raptor Owl is a nocturnal bird of prey found in many parts of the world. It has a distinctive appearance, with large, forward-facing eyes and a hooked beak. Raptor Owls are skilled hunters, using their keen eyesight and stealth to capture prey such as rodents, insects, and small birds. They are known for their distinctive calls, which include hoots, shrieks, and whistles. Raptor Owls are typically found in wooded areas, but they can also inhabit grasslands, deserts, and other types of habitats.
