(HealthNewsDigest.com) – OAK BROOK, Ill., March 22, 2016 — Need one more reason to get your child to brush their teeth? Here’s one from the latest survey of parents by Delta Dental, children who brush their teeth more at the youngest of ages are happier, healthier, more outgoing, and successful than those who don’t.

The survey findings detail that good oral hygiene likely affects confidence levels, as reported by parents of children ages twelve and younger.

According to the survey, children who brush their teeth two or more times a day are more likely than those who don’t to be:

  • Happy (92% vs. 86%)
  • Healthy (91% vs. 85%)
  • Successful (70% vs. 56%)
  • Outgoing (75% vs. 68%)
  • Proud of themselves (77% vs. 67%)

“Good oral hygiene habits impact a lot more than just a child’s oral health,” said Jennifer Elliott, vice president of marketing for Delta Dental Plans Association. “A healthy smile, leads to more confident children and that can serve them well for the rest of their lives.”

About the Survey: The Children’s Oral Health Survey was conducted between December 16th, 2015 andJanuary 14th, 2016 among a nationally representative sample of 1,307 parents of children ages 6-12. The margin of error is +/- 2.7 percent.
