(HealthNewsDigest.com) – You’d never guess which men walking down the street were once losing their hair. Those guys are now sporting a great head of hair-and it’s all thanks to hair transplants, a procedure that’s gaining in traction for men. In fact, it was the 5th most popular procedure for men, according to a survey of facial plastic surgeons by The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month, so now’s the time for men to start thinking about what they want to do about it. And lucky for them, plugs are out and natural hair is in. Thanks to improved outcomes, 14% of facial plastic surgeons believe they see more patients seeking hair transplants, including for eyebrows and eyelashes.

The rise in hair restoration is because hair transplants have gotten better in recent years. Advanced technologies that incorporate robots and computer-mediated technologies make the procedure faster and more comfortable. Men can return to work with a fuller head of hair without downtime or linear scars.

“Hair loss can be a product of aging or a family history. No matter what the cause, it can weigh on a man’s self-esteem. Regardless, men don’t want hair at any cost. They are seeking an outcome that looks natural,” says Dr. Stephen S. Park, AAFPRS President. “The development of more accurate and less invasive technologies gives men the hair they want without being painful or risky. They not only leave with more youthful looking hair, but a renewed sense of confidence,” he says.
