(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Today, advancements in medicine, technology and other important factors in life, have meant that most of us are living healthier, longer lives than ever before. The only problem with that, however, is that we all want to look as young as we feel, and a number of elements can have an impact on our appearance, leading to lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Fortunately, facelift surgery has developed into a popular option among men and women alike.

Fantastic Pedigree

Dr. Louis M. DeJoseph joined the team at Premier Image Cosmetic & Laser Surgery with the goal of improving patients’ lives, and confidence through innovative and effective surgical procedures. His specialties lie within the fields of reconstructive and facial plastic surgery, where he may help individuals undergo life-changing cosmetic procedures such as brow lifts, blepharoplasty and more. DeJoseph encourages his patients to ensure that surgery is the right option for them before they move forward, increasing the chances that all of his clients walk away from the surgery happy, and fulfilled.

What a Facelift can Do

Facelifts are one of the most common and popular cosmetic procedures in the world today. The medical term for them is rhytidectomy, which refers to the process of removing wrinkles and sagging from an individual’s facial skin. Facelift surgery works by removing or repositioning spaces of excess sagging skin across your face, and the soft tissue within your neck and face. The effect of this process is that most people feel as though the hands of the clock have been turned back. Facelifts can make some clients feel and look ten years younger.

The major areas of the face most often addressed by facelift surgery include the cheek, jowl and eyebrow regions, as well as the neck.

The Consultation

Before you get straight down to the surgery, Dr. DeJoseph will speak to you about your decision to get cosmetic surgery, and discuss all of the important factors with you. At the same time, you may find that photographs are taken for photo-documentation and imaging purposes.

You will be given the opportunity to talk about your concerns, and the areas of your face that you would most like to improve, before the doctor carefully examines your neck and face, making notes about muscle tone, bone structure, skin health, and fat distribution. You will be given several opportunities to ask as many questions as you might have. After all, you should go into any medical procedure feeling as safe and informed as possible.

The Recovery

After your facelift surgery has taken place, you may find that you are asked to spend the night in a comfortable recovery facility, where an assistant will be available to assist with your needs. The following morning, your dressings are likely to be removed, and you will be able to return home.

Bruising and swelling are relatively normal after surgery, but they should start to go down a couple of days after you have returned home. The pain that you experience will generally be minimal, and easily controlled with painkillers. Most of the time, patients can return to their typical routine within two weeks of surgery.
