(HealthNewsDigest.com) – Performance Spine and Sports Medicine (PSSM) in Lawrenceville, New Jersey understands that each individual patient is different and requires a unique treatment program. The specialty team of PSSM expert medical practitioners uses an integrated medical approach to develop a targeted health and wellness regimen to meet each patient’s specific needs that include Medical Intervention, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic Treatments, Nutritional Intervention, Acupuncture and Fitness Programs. “Gone are the days of one-dimensional medical treatment,” notes Dr. Matthias H. Wiederholz, M.D., Board-Certified cofounder of Performance Spine & Sports Medicine, LLC. In their ongoing effort to offer patients state of the art technology, PSSM is one of only a small number of medical practices offering the new Optojump technology for their patients. This is the same equipment being used by the European and United States Olympic Training Centers and professional sports teams.
What is Optojump?
The Optojump Next is an innovative system of analysis and measurement that brings a new philosophy of assessment and optimization of performance to the world of competitive sports: It is designed for the development of a specific and customized training program for the athlete, based exclusively on precise objective data. OptoJump is an optical measurement system consisting of a transmitting and receiving bar. The L.E.D.’s on the transmitting bar communicate continuously with those on the receiving bar. The system detects any interruptions in communication between the bars and calculates their duration. This makes it possible to measure flight and contact times during the performance of a series of jumps with an accuracy of 1/1000 of a second. Starting from these fundamental basic data, the dedicated software makes it possible to obtain a series of parameters connected to the athlete’s performance with the maximum accuracy and in real time.
How Does It Work?
By acquiring the fundamental parameters that characterize the level of an individual’s performance and physical condition, PSSM clinicians will constantly test and monitor their athletes. This makes it possible to ascertain the abilities or physical fitness of an athlete in a simple and immediate way, creating over time a real database that makes it possible to compare values for that athlete or different athletes, even at a distance of months or years.
Their comprehensive integrative medical center can also perform a gait analysis for all patients. The Gait analysis is the study of human locomotion augmented by instrumentation for measuring body movements, body mechanics, and the activity of the muscles. Gait analysis is used to assess, plan, and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. It is also commonly used in sports to help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement related problems in people with injuries.
By acquiring the fundamental parameters of their athlete’s gait, PSSM uses the OptoJump system to quantitatively measure underlying mechanical inefficiencies and target any problematic areas. With this information, they can develop the right exercises to properly address the patient’s specific needs.
This is also a very precise way to evaluate footwear for each individual. Are your shoes helping you be more effective with movement? Or are they hindering your progress?
The many benefits of Optojump Include:
Ability to assess an athlete’s performance and physical condition.
Rapidly identify any muscular deficiencies and measure tolerance to various work loads.
Develop customized and diversified training based on the test results to periodically check the results of training
Create a database of athletes in order to compare them with each other or to compare the results of a particular athlete in different periods of time in order to objectively determine the results of training
Examine the physical condition of an athlete after an injury, to develop specific actions for rehabilitation and check its progress.
Motivate athletes by giving them tangible proof of the progress made, thus stimulating fruitful competition inside the group.
Significantly reduce the trainer’s workload, at the same time allowing him/her to retrieve at any time the results of tests performed even months before.
Make use of an objective “judgment” when talent-scouting or choosing athletes.
Optojump Next enables coaches and therapists to track the progress of the client and/or patient and make suitable adjustments to the exercise program
