Trust And Results Are Most Important When It Comes To Deciding To Have Facial Plastic Surgery

Posted on July 16, 2018

(HealthNewsDigest.com) – We all know that beauty can come at a high cost—but, surprisingly, whether it’s going to be a painful one doesn’t top the list for men and women considering facial plastic surgery.

Even though we want to know how much it will hurt, it’s a question that doesn’t hold much weight in the final decision-making process according to the latest annual survey performed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

The survey reveals that the most important consideration patients make when deciding to have a cosmetic procedure isn’t pain, recovery or even financing. It’s finding a doctor they can trust AND who will deliver natural looking results.

According to AAFPRS members, the annual survey results revealed that while 40% of patients say finding a doctor they can trust is number one, only 1% of patients tell their doctors that pain or discomfort is their top concern; 33% of patients are most concerned with looking unnatural; 10% are concerned with cost; and 9% with recovery time.

“The decision to have a procedure, either surgical or non-surgical, should not be made lightly,” says Dr. William H. Truswell, facial plastic surgeon and president of the AAFPRS. “The most common patient factors and concerns focus on physician reputation and board certification and our survey data supports this. Patients are reminded toselect a board-certified surgeon who specializes in plastic surgery of the face, head and neck before undergoing cosmetic surgery.”

The AAFPRS encourages patients to research providers and treatment information via trusted online sources (www.aafprs.org), review before/after images and don’t be afraid to ask tough questions about background and credentials.

The bottom line? “Trust your face to a facial plastic surgeon,” says the AAFPRS. You’ll have beautiful results—and stay safe and healthy in the process. You only get one face. Trust it to the experts.
